2018 NPOY Contest Winners Honored

OH&S congratulated winners of the tenth annual contest during the 2018 National Safety Council Congress & Expo in Houston.

Twenty-two companies, including multiple winners Blackline Safety, Cority, Gateway Safety, and Honeywell, won top honors in Occupational Health & Safety magazine's tenth annual New Product of the Year contest this year. Most of the winners were recognized with awards during the 2019 National Safety Council Congress & Expo, which took place in Houston during October.

This year's contest attracted entries in 26 award categories, with an independent panel of three highly qualified judges choosing the winners. The judges' scores were extremely close, and all of the products entered this year earned very high marks from them. Scores in several categories—particularly protective apparel, industrial hygiene, respiratory protection, and software—were especially close.

The contest's judges were Linda J. Sherrard, CSP, MS, Safety Consultant II for the Central Prison Healthcare Complex (NCDPS) and former technical editor of Occupational Health & Safety; Greg Zigulis, CIH, CSP, president of Sixth Sense Safety Solutions; and Bruce Bolger, CSP, CHMM, owner and principal of Bruce Bolger Company, LLC.

To be eligible for the 2018 awards, products must have been introduced to the market between July 5, 2017, and July 4, 2018.
